Let’s start today’s conversation by agreeing that if you aren’t seen and heard, you won’t be listened to.

And with 5-10,000 marketing messages hitting consumers every 24 hours, the chances you’ll be heard are minimal.
That’s why regular readers know I’m all about finding ways to stand out of any crowd.
Because if you don’t stand out, you’re invisible. And invisible people lose out on LOTS of opportunities.
So where to start? Hats, earrings, walking sticks, extra facial hair, and other ruffles and flourishes can all accomplish the objective of making you more prominent.
Furthermore, I’ve always found the best, most effective visibility tools make you noticeable from a distance. That’s why I’m always wearing my hat, making it easy to spot me from far away and from any direction.
Ah, but what about using something different – something that announces your presence before you’re even in the room or anywhere in sight?
Meet Jessica Zoraida, CEO of Big Picture Results; an Encinitas-based Growth, Exit and Tax Planning firm for business owners and principals. They ensure alignment between vision, strategy and reality.
Like me, Jessica sponsors Chairmen’s RoundTable – a group of very senior level business and non-profit executives dedicated to providing free business advice to southern California firms.
Working with this group means Jessica is really smart. But in addition to her business savvy, she announces herself the moment she steps off the elevator.
Because you can smell her soap from 40 feet away. Mind you, I’m not the type to sit around smelling someone’s hair, and usually dismiss perfumes and the like as transitory, distracting, or overpowering.
But Jessica’s different, broadcasting her arrival a full 10 seconds before she walks into the room. Strange as it sounds, her choice of soap makes her the living embodiment of the phrase “A breath of fresh air.”
Meaning a bunch of high-level professionals anticipate Jessica’s arrival long before she walks into the room. Talk about grabbing attention!
I’m unsure if Jessica’s using this product to market herself, or if she just likes the smell of the soap she’s using.
But whether by plan or by happenstance, she’s embraced a strategy that successfully announces “Jessica’s here!”
And in my book, anything that reinforces your presence on an ongoing basis is worth repeating.
With that said, I wish you a week of profitable marketing.
