First off, the moment you finish writing a book like this, it’s obsolete. Then consider the following:
- Everything that’s happened since the Big Bang couldn’t possible fit into a single volume.
- There would be tens of thousand of entries and millions of words.
- Even an abridged version (5,000 entries) would be over 4,000 pages long, be 8 inches thick, and would weigh about 11 pounds.
- This knowledge base would need to be sold for many hundreds of dollars.
- A professional team of writers, editors, researchers, fact-checkers and designers would need about 4 years to get everything confirmed.
- Dr. Semelmacher (a fictional character) would have needed 15 years to organize and write this book. However, had he existed, he’d have wanted to have a real life and would instead rely on Wikipedia for just about everything he’d need to know.
